SAFARI 4x4

The Sierra de la Groba is home to one of the largest wild horse populations in Europe. Travelling in our 4x4 vehicles, we explore remote mountain tracks and hidden corners inaccessible to most visitors in search of the herds that roam freely throughout the year.

Throughout the experience, we will learn about the history of these horses, their behaviour, their role in Galician culture and the traditions that have helped preserve them for centuries. All of this takes place against the backdrop of some of the most spectacular scenery on the Atlantic coast, with panoramic views over mountains, forests and the ocean.

An ideal experience for nature lovers, photographers, families and anyone wishing to discover one of Galicia’s most fascinating and little-known stories.

What will we do?

  • Pick-up in Baiona.

  • Guided 4x4 tour through the Sierra de la Groba.

  • Search for and observe wild horse herds in their natural habitat.

  • Learn about their behaviour and social structure.

  • Discover the history, conservation and traditional management of the herds.

  • Stop at a panoramic viewpoint overlooking the Cíes Islands.

  • Visit a traditional curro (the stone enclosure where the annual Rapa das Bestas takes place).

  • Optional for private groups: Add a traditional lunch or picnic featuring local Galician products and wines in nature, combined with a visit to our farm to meet the Galician Purebred Horses (PRG) we ride on our horseback expeditions.

At Finca Moreiras, we are committed to preserving and promoting the traditions, heritage and culture surrounding Galicia’s horses. Through this experience, we aim to share a unique way of life where the horse remains at the centre of the landscape, the culture and our daily lives.
