TRANSGROBA

The Sierra de la Groba, in southern Galicia, is one of the last places where wild horses still form part of the landscape. Its mountains, forests and Atlantic ridgelines are home to one of the largest free-roaming horse populations in Europe, creating a unique environment where nature, equestrian culture and tradition remain deeply connected.

What is it about?

This three-day circular horseback expedition takes us through the heart of the Sierra de la Groba, exploring some of the wildest and least-known landscapes of southern Galicia. We follow ancient mountain trails through forests, dramatic Atlantic cliffs and herds of wild horses that roam freely year-round, learning about their habitat, behaviour and history along the way.

During the journey we will visit small mountain villages, swim in natural pools, enjoy gallops along the Atlantic coast and spend the night in a wilderness camp beneath the stars, surrounded by horses and nature. An adventure for those looking to disconnect from the modern world and discover Galicia at the pace of the horse, while enjoying the region’s traditional hospitality and cuisine.
