RAPA DAS BESTAS
The Sierra de la Groba is home to one of the largest populations of wild horses in Europe: the Garranos. These small, primitive native horses have roamed these mountains for more than 4,500 years, as evidenced by ancient rock carvings such as the Outeiro dos Lameiros petroglyphs. With some of the oldest horse gatherings (curros) in Galicia, the bond between local communities and these horses is truly unique. The Curro is the most anticipated event of the year for local horse-breeding families—a centuries-old tradition where the horse remains the undisputed protagonist.
